HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact version 4.0 will be available on August 16. This update will include other gameplay changes as well as a focus on the fifth nation, Fontaine.
Version 4.0 is titled “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason” and includes the release of the Hydro nation Fontaine. Fontaine’s key features are its clockwork technology and large areas submerged in water. Fontaine will provide unique underwater traversal and combat.

Fontaine is one of the seven regions of Teyvat. It is the nation that worships Focalors, the Hydro Archon and God of Justice. On the official preview page for version 4.0, Fontaine is described as:
A story that has never been heard, a legend that has been forgotten, like a lost kingdom sunken beneath the waves, yearning for a bard to sing its drowned songs.
Following the direction of pure currents, crossing wilderness, the depths of the forests and vastness of the sea of sand, arriving at the origin of all the waters of the continent.
At the top of the waterfall, in the depths of the capital atop the terrestrial sea, the curtain softly rises on the start of the adventure’s next chapter.
This release will also include three new characters: the Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet siblings. Lyney, a five-star archer with Pyro vision, and his little sister and assistant Lynette, a four-star sword-user with Anemo power, make up a pair of magicians. Freminet, the youngest sibling, is a diver with Cryo power and a Claymore.
This update will also include improvements to the Playstation versions’ quality of life, such as improved graphics via Global Illumination, Gyroscope support, and faster loading times. The map will also be updated for all versions of the game, allowing it to display multiple layers for underground areas.
