That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’s production team has confirmed that the anime’s third season will premiere in Spring 2024. Several projects are also planned to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the series’ web novel serialization on Shousetsuka ni Narou, which began on February 20, 2013.
The first project is a 3-part OVA adaptation of Coleus’ Dream, a side story from the main series. The OVA will premiere in the fall of 2023, and more information about its release date will be announced soon. It’s worth noting that Coleus’ Dream is an unconfirmed English translation of the Japanese title.
Takuma Terashima, who also played Rimuru’s past form, Satoru Mikami, will perform the opening theme song for Coleus’ Dream.
Coleus’ Dream was originally written as the main concept of the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond film, which takes place between the anime’s first and second seasons. The OVA’s plot will be similar to that of the film, with Rimuru fighting back against a conspiracy in a distant kingdom. It was originally included as a bonus booklet in one of the anime’s second-season Blu-ray sets.
Other commemorative initiatives for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’s 10th anniversary include a special campaign commemorating the series’ sale of over 40 million light novel copies and its first large-scale event. A stage adaptation of the series is also in the works, with a performance scheduled for August 2023. More information will be released at a later date.
As for “The Scarlet Bond” anime film, it was released in Japanese theatres on November 25, 2022, and in international theatres earlier this year. Crunchyroll screened the film in North American theatres and provides the following synopsis:
In Raja, a small country located to the west of Tempest. Rimuru and his companions become embroiled in a long-running conspiracy centred on the queen’s enigmatic power. Rimuru and his commander Benimaru also meet another ogre survivor named Hiiro, who used to be Benimaru’s brother.
