The “Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out” anime movie has a new 30-second “theme song PV.” The film made its debut in Japan on June 23, ranking fourth in the country’s weekend box office chart.
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out is a sequel to Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl and the 2019 film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai.
The staff members returning for “Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out” are Souichi Masui as the director, Masahiro Yokotani as the series composer and scriptwriter, and Satomi Tamura as the character designer. Once again, CloverWorks will be handling the animation production for the series.
Meanwhile, the cast members include Kaito Ishikawa as Sakuta Azusagawa, Asami Seto as Mai Sakurajima, Nao Touyama as Tomoe Koga, Atsumi Tanezaki as Rio Futaba, Maaya Uchida as Nodoka Toyohama, Yurika Kubo as Kaede Azusagawa, and Sora Amamiya as Uzuki Hirokawa.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, a KADOKAWA-published light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keji Mizoguchi, debuted in 2014 and has 12 volumes as of November 2022. Sakuta is seen in the series assisting various girls who suffer from Adolescence Syndrome, a supernatural affliction related to the social issues they face in the real world.
The Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out volume of the original light novels is described by Yen Press as follows:
Sakuta is nearing the end of his second year of high school after a grueling December. Mai is a third-year student, so they don’t have much time together before graduation. Meanwhile, his sister, Kaede, is gradually but steadily returning to the outdoors. She announces her most ambitious goal yet, attending her brother’s high school, just as she is getting her bearings. Sakuta understands how difficult this will be for Kaede and is ready to help her in any way he can. He’s just not sure if that’s what’s best for her…or what she truly desires…
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid were announced together, with the latter having its own theatrical premiere scheduled for the winter. These two stories will serve as a conclusion to Sakuta’s high school days, bringing everything together in a satisfying manner.
